Automation for

high-throughput Bioinformatics

NEXT@CRS4 is a modern NGS core facility  sustaining high throughput, low cost, production-scale sequencing experiments, coupled with a data-intensive computational infrastructure that provides specialized capabilities for tracking all-data procedures and biodata provenance, managing complex analysis workflows and results.

We’re Serious about Genomics

We have a long experience in Illumina Next Generation Sequencing technology in a broad range of applications including whole-genome, whole-exome and transcriptome sequencing, analysis of DNA binding sites, targeted resequencing. Currently, NEXT@CRS4 is the largest Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) platform in Italy, equipped with the most up-to-date Illumina sequencing technology (MiSeq, HiSeq 2500 and HiSeq 3000).
The NGS Core Facility has successfully completed Illumina Propel certification program for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) becoming an Illumina certified genomics service provider worldwide.

Bioinformatics and Research Activities

We work with connecting data to knowledge, improving NGS technology, integrating and standardizing vast amounts of data coming from heterogeneous sources, developing new data analysis approaches and building enabling technologies to bring all of this to biomedical and life science researchers.

Research Activities

The CRS4 researchers Paolo Uva and Rossano Atzeni (Biosciences sector) take part in the organization of the SIGU (Italian Society of Human Genetics) course “Analysis and interpretation of data in clinical genomics”, which will be held on June 3, 2019 at the NicolausHotel in Bari.

CRS4 organizes a theoretical and practical course dedicated to “Laboratory methods for analysis with Next Generation Sequencing technology Illumina – RNA-Seq” from 26 to 28 June 2019, at the Next Generation Sequencing laboratory of CRS4 building 3, Polaris Science and Technology Park in Pula.
The course is held by Roberto Cusano and Paolo Uva (Biosciences sector of CRS4) with the contribution of the regional agency Sardegna Ricerche and of the company Illumina.
